mould (food processing & storage)

Wooden mould for biscuits and pastries, engraved with three fish. These biscuits are known as 'Tong -beng' in Cantonese (literally meaning Chinese-cake, but can also describe any non-western pastries in the Cantonese community).

Traditionally it was for making pastries/ biscuits for Lunar New Year or sometimes Moon Festival. There could be different fillings inside, depending on the region, for example: lotus seed paste, red bean paste, pineapple paste, winter melon paste, green bean paste. Or sometimes it can be made without fillings.

Taiyaki is a Japanese fish pattern pastry, but this module is not for making it.
