bracelet

Copper bracelet, with indented designs of Native American symbols. Dated c. 1930-1950.

This bracelet is an early piece of Navajo jewellery, probably from around 1870. Used for adornment purposes, the indents show North American symbols which are common on this kind of Native American object. The shape of the bracelet is common in Navajo silver bracelets, so this is an earlier copper version.

Though construction techniques and materials differ, contemporary Navajo designs are still influenced by historical cultural designs.
