On Thursday, August the 20th (unknown year), the Camberwell Branch assembled for its annual treat and distribution of prizes for “those girls who had retained their position for more than one year”. After a service at St Peter Church, the group went on to the Horniman Museum, kindly placed at the disposal of the Camberwell committee for this occasion. The tea had been laid on long tables outside, but the rain began unexpectedly and lasted throughout the day. While the celebrated girls and their accompanying group visited (and thoroughly enjoyed) the museum, the staff managed to move the tea and the treats inside. After enjoying the tea, Rev. G. Daniell started to give out prizes to the girls, consisting of about seventy books. One special prize, namely a lamp, was given as a wedding present to a newly married girl.
