fish club (club (hunting, fishing & trapping))

Wooden club carved in the shape of a seal or sea lion. Used for clubbing fish (halibut and salmon). The eyes are made of inlaid shell - probably H. kamchatkensis. Both the use of local abalone and the simplicity of design suggests an early date, as does the patina and wear.
