The lamp is made up of an octagonal base with a removable oil holder in the centre, lantern sides with an openwork design, and an octagonal lid shaped like a pagoda roof, with a dragon-shaped handle on the top. The lid is attached to the sides of the lantern with wire. The sides and lid are detachable from the base.
