textile (function unknown); sample (textileworking: weaving)

Triangular brocaded multicoloured section of silk cloth. The textile is decorated with stripes and possibly bands (see longer one of the shorter sides). The stripes alternate between a predominantly green one decorated with linked medallion-shapes, and one divided into seven narrower stripes. The central one of these is predominantly blue, and decorated with linked diamond- and medallion shapes. This is framed by thin stripes with red and black dots on a white ground. On either side are stripes with the same drop-shaped, repeat motif, but on one side this is predominantly blue, on the other green. The sequence is overall framed by identical narrow stripes. They contain paired leaf-shapes (outlined in cream and coloured red or green) on a black ground. On the back, near the longer of the two shorter sides is an attached line of 'fluff', suggesting the textile might have been sewn onto another cloth along this line.
