Wooden mask. The face is carved from the outer part of a section tree trunk, while the nose is formed by the base of a branch, where it joins the trunk. Heavily textured, in part the natural grooves of the bark surface, but accentutaed by the maker with the addition of pitting. Hair indicated by stripes burnt in with hot wire at the top front. The mask, which represents an 'ugly' face, was used in Schemenlaufen festivals. (See notepad).
