body covering (armour: body armour)

Body armour, overlapping rows of laquered gilt metal strips held together by gold tape, encircle the body and do up on the right hand side. The black armour is shaped to come up over from the waist on lengths of tape to protect the posterior, flank and groin. Heavy braid connects the front and rear sections of the body armour over the shoulders; and the halves are hinged on the left. Lastly there is a large square slot at the bottom at the back, possibly for a standard. L. 28" at front; 29 1/2" at back; max chest 44".
