book (documentary artefacts)

Book in Japanese about items used in the Boys Festival, which takes place on the 5th May every year. The book has pictures and instructions about the assembly of objects. The cover of the book depicts a figure in a military uniform with a gun and bayonet aimed a small tiger.

The booklet was published in the 13th year of the Showa period (1937), a period of great nationalism when Japan was fighting a war with China. This is expreseed in the booklet, which includes a prayer for victory.

These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
