A cylindrical wooden lacquered box and lid, with a paper lining in the base. The contents of the box consists of a spice, possibly peppercorns, which are a deep brown colour. The container is lacquered both on the outer and the inner surfaces. The outside surface is red and has a floral decoration. Flowers and a bird are depicted in soft greens, pinks and gold. The inside of the container is lacquered in black. The base of the container has a label with its original accession number "69" on it. The lid is round with a flat top. There is also a floral decoration depicted.
