Composite bow without bowstring. Bow with belly of wood covered with birch-bark, back of horn. Hand-grip covered with cork and shagreen, and wooden curved tip with a nock and wooden support , one missing, at either end. Belly of bow painted with red lacquer but with some birch-bark strips exposed without paint. Wooden tips are painted with black lacquer. The whole bow apart from horn element is covered with sinew in glue. The back has horn framed in a rectangular panel with key fret bands on both ends. Decorated above the panel with a square strip of shagreen with an abstract design. A Chinese character 'yuan' is inscribed on one tip.
