canoe (plank built boats)

Wooden outrigger canoe with the stern and bow carved in the shape of sharks heads. It is made up of many small planks, stitched together with natural fibre. Much of this fibre is now missing and has been replaced with blue nylon. Between the joints of the planks were flat pieces of reed. Some of these remain in place, but the majority are now loose in an accompanying box. The outrigger is no longer attached and is in many sections.
