Semi-formal official's winter hat in oval shape with otter fur around the brim. Red braided tassels, some slightly faded, cover the crown extending from a gold flower-patterned base. An oval gilt metal insignia jewel indicates an eighth rank official. Part of the insignia is missing. Four Chinese characters inscribed on the underside of the gilt metal base read 'quan de lao dian', indicating the hat manufacturer. The hat is lined in blue cotton with two cotton cords to tie around neck.
