lota (water container (food service))

A copper container for sacred water, lota, possibly for transporting for use on a specific ritual. The top would be stopped for this purpose and it would be carried upside down. Decorated with figures from Hindu mythology in a horizontal band, between other horizontal bands of geometric decoration. The stopper is no longer present with the object. There is a label affixed onto the base of the container detailing its number.
