Rababa, rebab, type of lute. Wooden resonator, made in one piece with the wide neck and peg box. Right angle bent-back for tuning box. Violin pegs of same wood as resonator. Resonator covered with hide, painted black and gilded in small floral patterns around the edges. Bird's head above peg box. Four main strings; nine sympathetic strings. Carved bridge. Replaced missing pegs and bridge. 22.8.56 JLJ.
