A shallow domed lid of bowl in Bidri ware. The lid is decorated all over the outer surface in tarkashi and tehnishan technique with horizontal bands of geometrical and floral design with star- and leaf-shaped motifs. Along the rim is a chevron design, which has a slightly raised band of stylised lotus petals near the knop.
This is eighteenth or early nineteenth century from the Deccan. A comparable piece is V&A object 2067-1883(IS), Illustrated in plate 50 in Stronge, 1995.
