Pinafore skirt. Rectangle of black cloth gathered to the waist and provided with a broad waist-band which is extended to form a waist ribbon. Lavishly embroidered, chiefly in cross stitch, to either side of central vertical band and along hem and waist band. In many colours including fluorescent pink which is probably an aniline dye. Presumably worn over another skirt.
