horse furniture

One of a pair of carved and painted wooden hames for a horse harness, largely straight but widening and curving towards the bottom, and formed into a stylised horse's head curved downwards at the top, with a projecting stylised mane above. The inner surface is relatively smooth, with no carving, while the outer surface is deeply carved with ridges along the top third and with stylised motifs perhaps representing wings in the wider lower part. There are traces of paint, mostly reddish brown and green.
