Kava bowl with three legs. The bowl is shallow and has one point opposite a round curve to make a teardrop shape. The form is extremely finely carved. Two of the feet are slightly tapered cylinders while the third has a horizontal projection, which runs back towards the belly of the bowl at an oblique angle so that it lines up with one of the other feet.
Unusual, Fijian kava bowl that is teardrop shaped with three short legs. This is extremely unusual and gives the bowl certain stylistic resemblances to the priestly dishes of the late 18th century. It therefore seems to be hybrid form between older indigenous types and those types inspired by the Tongan style of carving.
