club (weapons: bludgeon)

Hard wood, war club with a rhomboidal sectioned head closing to a pyramidal point. The butt is roughly cut into an asymmetrical dome. The surface is unengraved with the exception of an inscription in a serif font which reads, “Koau Kaka Fenua.” This seems to be a central or eastern Polynesian language although the style of the club itself is western Polynesian.
Paper label stuck to the object reads " War Club, Chief's name carved"-LC 02/05/2012
