Lid of a pewter food serving dish of quatrefoil form. The lid has a mounted top which consists of a a moulded knob in the shape of a spray with two peaches, which have a ruby inset and the letter 'B' engraved. This was possibly done by the previous owner. The lid is also engraved with four large Chinese characters 'fugui' (wealth and honour) and 'shoukao' (long life), amidst other Chinese inscriptions engraved in seal script, clerical script and regular script. A maker's mark is impressed on the underside which reads: 'Chaoyang zhu Shantou, yan shengli dian, zheng wen tong'. This means 'Yan shengli' shop based in Shantou city in Chaoyang district; quality pewter'.
