Large circular cheese mould, turned from a piece of dark wood. It has been decorated half way up the outside, with 4 tightly spaced lines. The centre of the wood has been hollowed out to create the space for the cheese to be poured. There are woodworm holes throughout the piece.
This early 20th century English mould, with its straight edges, could have been used to drain and to form a cheese. A mould of this size would have been appropriate for making cheese in a farmhouse kitchen from the milk of a single cow on a small farm.
