Base for a snuff box, in the form of a pill box, made from the pell of a bergamot fruit, presumably pressed into shape. The object has a buff coloured background with polychrome designs. There is a red and black band around the circumference of the object. A creature is depicted on the underside of the base, possibly a maker's mark.
