coronation wand

A wooden coronation wand, made for the coronation of George V in June 1911. The shaft of the wand is decorated with red paint with a decorative motif near to the top of the wand. Each end of the wand is painted gold, seperated from the red paint of the shaft by a slim black band. The decorative motif consists of the monogrammed initals 'RGV' beneath a crown. Below the initals is crossed sword and staff positioned above a painted orb. The numbers '19' and '11' are painted to the left and right side of the orb. Beneath the orb is the word 'coronation' contained within a painted scroll.
