trolling hook

Trolling hook made from a mother of pearl shell with a tortoise shell hook bound to the shell using some plant material. There are five beads threaded onto the plant material, two red, two white and one dark, possibly black.

Trolling-lure fish-hook with pearlshell shank and turtleshell barb. Trolling-lure fish-hooks were used to catch bonito from the stern of the canoe, see: Kascho, 1976, for Solomon Islands fish-hook types, and Cummings, 1974, for some provenances.
