One miniature diatonic harmonica made by Hohner, Trossingen, Germany c. 1938 (?). Inscribed ‘Larry Adler’ on the upper plate and ‘MADE BY/HOHNER/GERMANY’ on the lower plate’. Wood, brass and german silver. Four pairs of brass reeds. Brass hook for appending carrying strap.
Harmonicas like this were distributed as promotional merchandising associated with the performances and albums of the famed harmonica player, Larry Adler, (1914-2001) – who always referred to the instrument by its more generic name ‘mouth organ’.
