One of three handwritten gilt manuscript pages, Shalu Monastery, Tibet. The pages are written in Tibetan script in gold ink on a blue background; the rest of the parchment has been stained blue.
This folio is one of three (the other two being 2014.161 and 2014.162). However the three folios are separate and not sequential. They could be from the same volume but most likely from different sections of mantras. The mantra is written in gold ink on black / dark blue paper or 'Mthing-shog' in Tibetan. Typically important mantra are written in gold ink on Mthing-shog paper. The mantra on the folio roughly translates as follows: Line 1: including xyz within the ‘bya’ emblem borne (by the image of xyz?) and at the end of receiving the blessings .. Line 2: and in order to save (and rescue) many beings such a XYZ, invite (the relevant deity) to manifest as a guardian protector and helper and .. Line 3: that being the case; arriving and gathering here in the Mandala of the Ganapuja offerings, Line 4: kindly bestow the blessings.
