Monguor (Tu) dress ornament obtained at Kumbum monastery (Qinghai province, China); hangs on front or back. Formed of two long rectangular strips of black cotton fabric joined on the upper surface by a strip of blue cloth with a printed fabric lining half way along, and a piece of black cloth a little higher up. The surface of each strip is decorated with six bands of embroidery, chiefly in chain stitch, chiefly red and green, and a longer red applied panel decorated with three white appliqué quatrefoil motifs with a green silk pompom at the centre. This panel is bordered by lengths of green ribbon with a red and yellow floral design stitched to the base. Each length has a button and loop at the top and black tassels at the bottom.
