Monguor (Tu) woman’s dress ornament obtained near Kumbum monastery(Xining, Qinghai province, China) February 2000; hangs on front or back. Formed of two long rectangular strips of black cotton fabric joined at intervals by four strips of cloth, and a stitch at the top. The surface of each strip is decorated with five sections of floral embroidery, chiefly in satin stitch; one on each strip has a butterfly and one has a pair of quadrupeds. At the top of each is a red embroidered panel decorated with floral motif, bird and deer. Section of printed fabric applied towards the bottom, which ends with maroon tassels. Three buttons at the top of each strip. Lined with red fabric.
