Woman’s warp-faced cotton tube skirt, kain indu’, or kain kebat, of probably homespun cotton with natural dyes. It has a broad main panel patterned in ikat, flanked by plain and patterned stripes in market-bought yarns, dyed chemically in a range of colours, on both sides, between which are bands of ikat designs in the same materials as the main panel. The warp ends are hand-stitched together to form a tube, so that when worn the stripes become horizontal bands. The ikat design is in beige, dark red and dark brown on a dark red ground. There is a narrow band near each selvedge in black. Undup Iban, Sarawak.
