Hen's egg decorated for Easter in red yellow and black against the natural white of the shell. the design divides the egg into two with a band of triangles and lozenges along the length of the egg. On either side of the remaining area is a broader band of small squares bounded on either side with scroll and scalllop shapes, with a section of plain red at each side. The design has been achieved by applying fine lines of wax, then dipping the egg in dye. The wax has then been removed and the process repeated twice more in different colours.
