Pendant amulet from Palmyra, Syria. Bronze-coloured metal pendant in the form of a decorated rectangular case, attached to a horizontal metal cylinder, from which are suspended nine chain-link metal pendants. The rectangular case has one decorated surface, with four vertical rows of a wave pattern. Each vertical side of the case is perforated with six large holes. The reverse is smooth. The rectangular case is attached to the horizontal cylinder by a metal loop. The cylinder has the same wave pattern, in four bands around the outer edge; each of these bands has a border of eight thin metal wires. The ends of the cylinder are bell-shaped, with five protruding metal balls. Five metal loops on the lower edge of the cylinder are each attached to a larger wire loop. Four of these loops have two wire chain-link pendants, which end in metal balls or wire coils; one of the hoops has only a single pendant chain.
