The picturesque cries “Olde dublets, “ “Olde Satten, Olde Taffety or Velvet,” gave place to “Old Clowse, any old Clo’,” which has still further degenerated into “O Clo’,” a cry which is not unheard today. Latterly the business seems to have been carried on chiefly by Jews, who disposed of their wares at the Rag-fair, held in Rosemary Lane, Tower Hill.
