Cigarette card with a colour image of a well dressed gentleman wearing a green coat entitled 'Old Cloaks, Suits or Coats' Text on reverse reads: 'The traffic in old clothes, if not one of the most respectable, is certainly among the oldest of our travelling trades. The picturesque cries “Olde dublets, “ “Olde Satten, Olde Taffety or Velvet,” gave place to “Old Clowse, any old Clo’,” which has still further degenerated into “O Clo’,” a cry which is not unheard today. Latterly the business seems to have been carried on chiefly by Jews, who disposed of their wares at the Rag-fair, held in Rosemary Lane, Tower Hill. ' Number 3 in a set of 25 cigarette cards entitled 'Cries of London'. Issued by John Player & Sons, a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Co. Ltd.
