Yao priest’s dragon robe, Laos. Formed of a length of cloth folded in half to form two rectangles, one forming the back of the robe, the other cut to form a front opening from collar to hem. Trimmed with red fabric along outer edges and front opening. Embroidered in multi-coloured silks at the front with a large dragon to each side, a mounted rider below each and with figures of saints below; and on the back with dragons to either side of a peach-shaped motif, with an animal figure below, a panel with Chinese characters and zigzags below that, the eight trigrams in a row below and wave forms above hem. Figures of saints fill the ground.
