Barong Landung mask of Jero Gede. One of a pair with 2010.80. Carved and painted wooden mask of male ancestral figure, Jero Gede. The apertures for the eyes are narrow and curved, the ears round with a red-filled aperture in each lobe. Prominent cheeks and four large white teeth projecting from the upper jaw. Apertures in nostrils and mouth. The face is painted black, inside the apertures painted red, with gold around the red lips and the eyes. Paired red and gold lines in furrows along the forehead and in two curved bands in front of each ear; a curved double line of red and gold at each side from abive nostril to side of mouth and similar curved double lines in the ears. The flat frontal leather headdress, also painted gold, is coronet-shaped and rises, falme-llike, at either side. This is carved and set against a red-painted leather ground and set with pieces of mirror and gem stones. A gemstone set in gold just above the nose. A red woollen pompom is set above each ear, with three lengths of white cotton wool bound in white thread hanging from each. Inscribed on the inside in Balinese script.
