The lower part is formed of upright strips of the outer skin of bamboo stitched together horizontally at intervals and bound with strip of vegetal material to an inner and outer loop of bamboo, each split to forma length semicircular in section, at the base. The upper part is formed of six more or less triangular panels made of parallel rows of strips of bamboo, alos stitched together in horizontal bands. The lower part is lacquered or varnished; the upper part is covered with fabric which has become brown with age. The top and bottom of the lower part are decorated with a pattern formed of small white beads, including one row in which beadwork frames are inset with a reflective material, perhaps mica. The upper, fabric-covered part, is also decorated with patterning in white beadwork, with additional decoration of metal purls and sequins. At the top a circle surrounded by braid where the fabric is undecorated.
