Storage basket for masks, katung. Square base made of four lengths of bamboo, with long notches carved along the length of each, nailed together at the corners. On this is set a square basket of twill woven bamboo strips reinforced with vertical bamboo struts at the corners and mid point of each side and horizontal bamboo strips, one running along the lower edge, the other near the top. Lid of similar structure overlaps the upper part of the basket. The body and lid are joined by two lengths of vegetal fibre cord which are attached with a knot to two holes on one side of the bamboo base, running diagonally to meet at each side of the body below the top horizontal bamboo strut where they pass through a plaited loop, continuing along the side of the lid and through a further plaited loop at the top edge of the lid, across the top and down the other side of the basket, terminating in knots opposite the first tow.
