A Zulu beer basket lid made of coiled palm fibre (Hyphaene Coriacea) and the Euclea root dye. The lid is a short, wide cone with a concertina folded handle.
The basket was purchased as a tourist item by the donor and may never have been used. Traditionally they were used to hold locally brewed, low alcohol beer used for both social and religious purposes.
