Reed and pirouette assembly: A white metal ring, probably designed to slot over the staple, with three black cords attached. The first has a small white plastic pirouette. The second has five quadruple reeds with rounded tops. These are arranged in a line with the thread tied round the base of each. The third cord attaches a reed guard, which consists of two strips of wood, tied at both ends with a slot between them.
