At the centre the national coat of arms of Indonesia is embroidered , the Garuda Panca Sila, or 'five principles'. It depicts the Garuda, or eagle, grasping in its talons a band showing the national motto 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' [ = 'Unity in Diversity'). On the eagle's chest is a shield containing five symbols: top left is the head of a buffalo; top right a beringin or banyan tree; below left is padi, or rice plants, below right a chain, and at the centre a star. To the left the word 'NGADO' appears; to the right 'MARUTI'. To the left and right below respectively are figures of the ape Ngado, or Anggada and the ape Maruti, or Hanuman, each astride a Naga.
