Hand woven textile: geometric design with colourful panels in the middle (red, orange and green); a black-and-white patterned band running through the middle, black-and-white stripes framing the top and bottom, and black-and-white checks framing the sides.
This is typical of a Fulani wedding blanket, offered as a gift to the bride, and they have come to replace the more ‘traditional’ arkilla that were woven out of wool (these kare or tapi are made in cotton). They are used as a bed spread or for wall hangings in the house.
