421.222.12 Sets of open flutes with internal duct, with fingerholes

English double flageolet. African blackwood (grenadilla). Seven brass keys with nickel silver plating, two of which are wind cutter keys. Other keys are block mounted with square flat flaps and leather pads. Five ferrules and eight studs, all of ivory. String lapped tenons. Wind distributor and mouthpiece missing. Left hand pipe has five large tone holes, three small holes and one which has been plugged. Right hand pipe has four large tone holes and one smaller hole. End of right hand pipe has been partially plugged with cork. Sponge chamber is stamped: METZLER/LONDON; Stock is stamped: METZLER/LONDON/105. WARDOUR.
