Pair of percussion plaques (used like the cymbals local name 'khuti tal'), made of iron. With one held in each hand, they are struck together in a beat-keeping function. they support loko geet (Assamese devotional music) performances.
These home-made clappers were used as substitutes for the small brass cymbals khuti tal (Horniman Museum number: 2004.561), and the maker gave them this name. The handles are held by the thumb, index and middle fingers of both hands.
