This drum is played by members of the Sora community in a variety of different contexts: in modern Hindu music, in Hindu bhajans or devotional songs, and in Sora Christian music. It is played while seated, when it rests on the thighs of the drummer, or standing and suspended from the shoulders by the carrying strap. The smaller treble head is usually played with the right, and the bass with the left palm and fingers.
