cloth (household miscellany); tablecloth; textile

Long, rectangular embroidered cloth for household use, perhaps a towel. The ground is a natural coloured singles cotton. Either side of the centre are seven embroidered geometric motifs, spaced out in a star shape. Towards each end is a wide, identical embroidered panel. The patterning comprises a linked two diamond motif alternating with a diagonal diamond pattern and is worked in two tones of blue with the addition of white cotton in the borders framing the patterning. The warp ends are turned with a thin line of openwork embroidered near the edge. [Textile]
