A Chinese opium smoker's box. The box is wooden and the front panel can be removed to show the contents. On the first shelf is an engraved removable brass tray with a collection of shells. In the bottom drawer is mechanism to heat opium, with four lidded square boxes. A back compartment contains tweezers, a spatula and a small square of ivory. Also within the box are four brass lidded boxes, some containing shells and opium paraphernalia. The front panel has inlaid decoration with what is probably ivory.
