Saucer for a laquered wooden box in the shape of a durian. The top of the rim is has been coloured gold. The centre of the top and the underside of the rim are lacquered red. The circular foot has been left plain. This type of box was used as a container for such things as betel ingredients. The fruit represented is of symbolic significance in Malay culture.
