The Mother of the Bride

Rod puppet of 'The Mother of the Bride' in the puppet play 'The Wedding' (according to notes by K. Teague, although in 2010 K. Teague noted that the puppet looks more like 'The Bride' herself than her mother).

She has a large head with prominent ears; 'kiss-curls' on her cheeks made from brown fur; large eyes with long eyelashes; black eyebrows; a full, red mouth and long plaits with pom-pom ends.

She is dressed in a gauzy, white headscarf and a silver headband and a short, synthetic ikat dress in yellow, pink, white, dark green and orange over a plain cream shift. Two long, metal rods with wooden handles are attached one to each hand.

Puppet was purchased from the Bukhara English Puppet Theatre.
