Abdullah (name)

Glove puppet with a central rod. The name of the puppet is Abdullah.

Puppet is of a mature man with black, hairy eyebrows and beard. He has a globular head with protruding ears, a cursory nose, lidded eyes and a small red mouth. His hands are made of padded, light-ochre coloured fabric.

He is wearing a low black hat (DOPPE) finished in fur; a long blue, gold and red stripey robe with a central opening which has been trimmed with gold.

The puppet was bought from Master Matyakub's shop near the Ark in Khiva. One of two puppets (other is 2001.206.2) both accompanied by bag (2001.201.3).
