shoe (clothing: footwear)

Rubber shoe - left.

Blue plastic/ rubber shoes were rather in fashion in Mali around 2003. A song was written about them, composed by the famous Malian musician Habib Koite. Normally associated with the Fulani (Peuhl), blue shoes were supposed to be cheap and particularly durable and therefore practical for the nomad Peulh who raise cattle and herd sheep. I don’t recall seeing any ‘addidas’-inspired style though like these ones.
